Shoreham and District Mental Health Association has been successful in its bid to develop and provide a new service being offered across Adur, Arun and Worthing. The service, which is a pilot 2 year project, is funded by the Trust and endorsed by the Commissioners with a launch date of 7th September 2005.
The name chosen:Respite Ansas …” taking a breather” aims to reflect the innovative and creative options of supported activities following an identified, assessed need for respite by a care coordinator working within functional mental health services.
Respite Ansas is based at The Corner House, where a dedicated phone line, e-mail and mobile phone service is available to professional care coordinators and service users.
The base will provide information and signpost to other resources.
Data and statistics will be compiled from the base. The service offered
will be of a brokerage nature, with Service Manager, Gaynor Platt, Respite Coordinator,
Julie Bose, and eventually a volunteer to help with the administrative/clerical
side of the service.
There is more about Respite Ansas in the Autumn 2005 issue of AAW Magazine. It can be read online here.
