SDMHA move premises

The Corner HouseShoreham and District Mental Health Association relocated to new premises as members were increasing due to the number of new referrals.

For the last 3 years all of our fundraising has been focused on the 'premises fund' and we have raised a further £225,000 towards the fund. This has been done in a variety of ways such as our annual fete 'Becalmed' which was held on Coronation Green and marked the start of the Adur Festival during the first week-end in June. Various sponsored events such as walks, climbs, swims, bike rides, coffee mornings and a variety of in-house fundraising have also helped to boost this figure.

The Corner House Resource CentreIn 2004, members, staff and volunteers took part in the Great South Run in Portsmouth, a distance of 10 miles, and apart from one of our volunteers, no-one else had taken part in an event of this size which was a huge challenge for everyone involved, particularly members. One of whom was so inspired he went on to run in the London Marathon the following year.

After much searching and some false starts, we have located a building in Southwick Street, Southwick, named The Corner House Resource Centre . We are delighted that finally we will have our own premises which will mean more long term security for members. The purchase would not have been possible without a very generous grant of £300,000 from the Big Lottery Fund, £90,000 from The Tudor Trust and £30,000 from The Garfield Weston Foundation.
