The Corner House Resource Centre

The Corner House Resource Centre provides a supportive environment for people who have experienced mental illness. It is an informal centre set in a lovely building which lends itself well to creating a therapeutic and happy atmosphere, where staff are on hand to offer guidance, advice and support.

Our Aims:

We aim to provide social support and intervention to people who have experienced mental illness so as they may:

  • be less isolated
  • have meaningful daytime activities which provide a structure to the week

We also aim to:

  • increase quality of life, self esteem and confidence
  • decrease vulnerability to illness and promote good mental health
  • provide companionship and a place to feel safe and accepted
  • provide equal opportunity and to challenge the stigma and disadvantage caused by mental illness.


The Lounge

The Corner House is:
  • for people with severe or enduring mental illnesses
  • a drop in centre for people who have been referred
  • open seven days a week
  • located centrally in the town to provide semi structured care
When we're open:

Monday         11.00 am - 4.00 pm
Tuesday        11.00 am - 4.00 pm
Wednesday     4.30 pm - 9.30 pm
Thursday       11.00 am - 4.00 pm
Friday            11.00 am - 4.00 pm
Saturday *     10.00 am - 2.30 pm
Sunday          10.00 am - 2.30 pm

* On Saturdays we run day trips to various events and places.

Who can join

Anyone between the ages of 16 - 65 living in the Adur District, who is experiencing a severe and / or enduring mental illness and who is looking for our kind of support in helping to keep well.

How to join

New members to the centre need to be referred by a professional from the Adur Community Health Team or The Day Hospital. Once referred people are invited in for an appointment to look around and discuss their particular needs. This may be with the person who refers them or on their own.
